Topkapi Palace is situated on the Sarayburnu promontory in Istanbul and served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire for 400 of its 600 years of history.
It was the palace where Ottoman sultans resided. At one point, it housed nearly 4,000 people within its premises.
